Hurray! I have just moved back to Vancouver in the past few of weeks and I’m excited to have secured a studio at #455 – 1000 Parker Street for a couple months. That means I will be offering art classes again, starting September! I’m so looking forward to reconnecting with former students, and meeting new ones.

I have two classes to choose from:

PAINTING SKILL-BUILDER and PAINTING for ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS.

PAINTING SKILLBUILDER (Vancouver)

Six Tuesdays: 6-9pm Sept 17, 24, Oct 1, 8, 15, & 22

Tuition: $430

Acrylic or oil. All levels.

Have you reached a plateau with your painting practise? Maybe you struggle with “what to paint”, have trouble with some technical things, or prefer to work with the inspiration of others in a group setting? Then this class may be for you!

Each three-hour session we will do a brief warm-up exercise, then we will tackle a painting project start-to-finish. The class is designed to expand your range so that you can paint anything you wish with more confidence. If you think you would enjoy some technical and inspirational help in a supportive group setting, come on over. We will all be learning and growing together. 🙂

In this class you will improve your colour mixing, drawing, and brushwork, and absorb tips on composition.

PAINTING FOR ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS (Vancouver)

Six Wednesday evenings 6-9pm Sept 18, 25, Oct 2, 9, 16 & 23

Tuition: $430

Location: #455-1000 Parker St, East Vancouver

In six information-packed three-hour sessions, you will learn important steps to building an acrylic painting using a loose, impressionistic approach. We start with simple shapes in black and white (also known as “value”), then expand into colour. I give demonstrations to help you understand the block-in, develop your work with more detail, and learn about how value, basic colour theory, edge control, and brushwork can be used to create a dynamic painting with strong structure.

In the last couple classes students are encouraged to work on their own personally chosen projects.
